We are all made of stardust
Carbon, nitrogen and oxygen - the chemical elements we are made of were produced in the centers of massive stars. Prof. Dr. Andreas Burkert and Prof. Dr. Harald Lesch discussed where life comes from and what significance the universe has for all being, at the kick-off event of the new CAS focus "Stardust".
Within the new focus "Stardust" of the Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) at Ludwig Maximilian University, astrophysicists and biophysicists discuss fundamental questions of humanity together with theologians and philosophers:
- What consequences do the findings of modern astrophysics have for our view of the world and our perception of the position of man in space?
- What cultural, ethical, religious and social consequences would a discovery of life in space have?
- How does this change our relationship with our earth?
