Roland Diehl is new research area coordinator
Prof. Dr. Roland Diehl from the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics is the new coordinator of the research area G "What is the cosmic history of element formation?" at the Excellence Cluster Universe. His new deputies are Prof. Dr. Shawn Bishop from the Technische Universität München (TUM) and Dr. Bruno Leibundgut from the European Southern Observatory (ESO).
The appointment was necessary because the previous coordinator Bruno Leibundgut had to withdraw due to new tasks at ESO. Additionally, his deputy Prof. Dr. Walter Henning, acting head of the TUM Physics Department E12, Hadron and Nuclear Physics, leaves Munich and will relocate his life back to the US continuing the efforts to build a proposed exotic beam facility for nuclear physics research at Argonne National Laboratory.
Roland Diehl was already deputy research area coordinator in the past. With these changes, three of the partner institutes of the Excellence Cluster Universe are now involved in the coordination of the research field G.
