Arndt Bode receives the Konrad-Zuse-Medal for computer science

Prof. Arndt Bode, director of the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum, professor of computer engineering and computer organization at the faculty of computer science at the TU München (TUM) and Principal Investigator of the Excellence Cluster Universe, is awarded the Konrad-Zuse-Medal 2015 by the german society of computer science. Since 1987, the distinction is awarded every second year to an outstanding scientist; it is considered the highest distinction in the field of computer science in the German-speaking countries.

Arndt Bode, born in 1948, received his PhD in Karlsruhe and habilitated at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, before he was appointed as a professor at the TUM in 1987. From 1999 to 2008 he was vice president and CIO at the TUM. Since 2008, Prof. Bode is Chairman of the Board of the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.

Arndt Bode conducts research in the field of technical computer science with a focus on design, implementation and use of parallel and distributed computing architectures and numerical simulation. This involves methods for efficiently providing high computing power for applications ranging from basic research to the development of industrial products and services. As TUM CIO he developed concepts for seamless IT infrastructures for universities.
